The FlexPoint 232 is a serial RS-232 to fiber media converter, automatically supporting speeds of up to 115,200 baud. Models are available with multimode or single-mode fiber port, capable of extending serial connection up to 28km.

The FlexPoint 232 supports both half-duplex and full-duplex modes of operation. It features a DTE/DCE configuration for easy connection to DTE or DCE devices using straight-through cabling. Also supports software flow control via XON and XOFF, and hardware flow control via RTS, CTS, DCD, DTR and DCR. It can be mounted stand-alone utilizing optional wall-mounting hardware. It can also be rack-mounted using a 5-unit rack-mounting shelf or in a 14-unit FlexPoint Powered Chassis.

This converter extends the distance of the connection to 5 km (3.1 mi.) using multimode fiber and to 58 km (36 mi.) using single-mode fiber. This wide range of distance support provides solutions to the connectivity needs of short haul as well as long haul fiber users. Most distances are available with ST and SC fiber connectors. This feature makes the FlexPoint 232 easy to connect in any applications. The FlexPoint 232 supports both half-duplex and full-duplex modes of operation. Flow control through the FlexPoint 232 can be done via software using the XON / XOFF protocol or via the supported RTS, CTS, DCD, DTR and DCR flow control signals. These features allow the easy interface to any RS-232 DTE or DCE device.
