The iConverter 2-Module Power Chassis is a compact, versatile chassis featuring a single internal universal AC or 18-60VDC power supply. The chassis provides housing for all iConverter media converters and switch modules. The 2-Module Chassis features a backplane that enables sharing of Ethernet data between two installed iConverter modules that are equipped with Ethernet backplane ports. This enables the chassis to support a variety of networking configurations. Installing an iConverter copper-to-fiber module and a four-port switch module provides a fiber uplink and five 10/100 user ports. A fiber-to-fiber module can be used to provide an access point in a fiber ring, supporting four 10/100 user ports.

The 2-Unit Powered Chassis, which features a single internal universal AC or 48 VDC power supply can be remotely managed directly (when using the 10/100 converter) without any external connections to another switch or customer equipment. This mini-chassis is ideal for large enterprise LAN applications, MAN, Central Office (CO) and Customer Premises. When used in combination with the 19-Unit chassis at the core of the enterprise or CO, it provides an easy to use integrated end-to-end managed network.

When used with the iConverter management module, the power system reports the voltage, current and temperature of the power supply. Any out of range violation can be set to trigger an SNMP management alarm thus allowing quick corrective maintenance.

The iConverter™ Chassis supports the entire family of In-Band or Out-of-Band SNMP managed media converters. Supporting 10, 100, 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet and OC-3, OC-12 technologies, the iConverter is suitable for LAN and MAN networks where copper to fiber and multimode fiber to single-mode fiber conversions are required.

All iConverter converter modules are hot-swappable and support three mounting options. They can be mounted in a 19-Unit 2U high (3.5 inch), space saving 19 inch rack-mountable chassis with Triple-Redundant AC or 48 VDC Power Supplies. They can be mounted in a 2-Unit AC or 48 VDC powered chassis or in a 1-Unit AC powered chassis.
